Grilled Key West Swordfish with Mango Salsa

There’s a reason that swordfish has a reputation as one of the most delicious fish in all of Key West. It has a mild, sweet flavor that’s always surprising, along with a meaty texture that makes it that much more satisfying.

You just can’t go wrong with fresh Key West swordfish. That’s why we’re featuring it in this week’s recipe. We hope you enjoy our Grilled Key West Swordfish with Mango Salsa.

Ingredients and Preparation

Here’s everything you need to know to cook this simple but amazing dish. Just remember that it’s important not to use mangoes that are too ripe– they get very mushy when cut. That said, here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 4 6-8 oz swordfish steaks (approximately an inch thick)
  • 2 medium-sized mangoes, peeled, pitted, and diced into small cubes
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 tbsp. fresh cilantro, chopped finely
  • 2 tbsp. red onion, chopped finely
  • 2-3 limes, zested and juiced
  • Salt and fresh pepper to taste

Preparation

Preparing this dish is very straightforward. Get your grill ready while preparing the salsa, using charcoal or gas set to medium-high heat. While the grill’s heating, you can prepare the salsa.

Place the mango, onion, cilantro, and the lemon juice and zest into a mixing bowl and toss, being careful not to smash the mango. Then you can put it aside while you’re grilling the swordfish.

Here’s how to grill the swordfish. Coat each steak with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place them on the grill for about 3 minutes a side, or until they’re cooked through. When they’re finished cooking, plate the swordfish steaks and spoon the salsa out on top of them.

This dish will serve four adults. It goes nicely with a variety of sides, but we suggest grilled veggies or your favorite summer slaw. All in all, our grilled swordfish with mango salsa makes for a light but satisfying meal. We’re certain you and your party will enjoy it.
